Mission Briefing

Mission: Discovery
Location: Conference Room, Deck 2.
Timeline: Stardate 65027.6 - Janurary 10th 2388 at 15:25pm GST

*Timor entered the conference room to see most of his officers sitting around the table awaiting to be briefed about their current mission, the only officer who wasn't present was Bayleia. Timor thought she was obviously delayed in Engineering. He took the seat at the head of the table and took a moment to look around the room and at each of his officers.*

Belar: "I have asked you all here so I can bring you all up to speed on our current assignment."

*Before Timor continued, he saw a lot of blank expressions on the faces of his officers.*

Belar: "We have been ordered by Starfleet Command and Starfleet Intelligence to New Xindus where a Federation Science team have located what seems to be a crashed vessel of unknown origin. However amongst the Science team is an Intelligence Operative who has reported that the area around the crash site is showing low levels of Chroniton radiation."

*Timor paused to let other officers jump in before continuing with the briefing.*

Selen: "Chroniton radiation? It'll be a race to get there and analyse it before temporal investigations get their hands on it and bury it under so much classification that it will not see the light of day for the next 700 years."

Thompson: "I know enough about temporal stuff to stay as far away as I can as I always end up having to see the Doc for anti-headache treatments.

But once the warp field recalibration is finished and if we increase our speed I can get is there in under an hour or so; once we get going more if I push the ship a little more. So if its speed you want that’s what I can give you. Do we have any more information on what style of craft it is and what it may have been used for yet?"

*Bayleia had been delayed by the warp field re-calibration in Engineering and she was not happy about the warp drive acting up only hours after running several diagnostics, she approached the doors of the conference room and took a deep breath before entering.*

Larien: "Sorry I am late Captain, the ship should be ready to go shortly. Have I missed much?"

*Bayleia sat down between Canara and Mark who were sitting at the end of the table.*

Belar: "Not a problem Lieutenant Larien, hopefully you can catch up."

*Gailia was sitting next to Canara while T'Vasa was sitting next to the Captain. T'Vasa had no intention of speaking until everyone else had a chance or she was asked a question. Gailia nodded and pulled out her PADD, making some notes.*

Nastona: "I'll make sure to keep biohazard operations ready in case of contamination. Chroniton radiation poisoning is not as deadly as normal forms of radiation, but it can if there's an inordinately significant amount. I'll make sure to advise the rest of the crew on the dangers of Chroniton radiation."

*Timor had been listening attentively to his officers comments.*

Belar: "Thank you Lieutenant Thompson, that would be good if we can be there sooner. That would be very good Doc and as for Temporal Investigations I have assurances from Admiral Stromberg that we wont be getting a visit anytime soon. I haven't been given specifics however the last report was that it was an Earth vessel, perhaps pre Federation although I have nothing beyond that I am afraid.

On a lighter note I have been deciding who to assign to our Hazard Teams for away missions and such. I will be informing the appropriate officers accordingly. Any other questions or comments?"

Ross: "Captain, if I may. I do not recall any Starfleet ships, Federation or otherwise going missing in that area of space. Also, Chroniton radiation does not form naturally."

*With the warp drive re-calibration completed, Andie decided to contact the Captain to inform him of the repairs and that they could proceed back into warp.*

=A=Bridge to Captain Belar; The warp drive re-calibration has been completed and we can continue on our course.

Belar here; Thank you Lieutenant, take us to warp 8. Belar out.=A=

Belar: "Thank you Commander, I am well aware of that. Well your engineers have done well Lieutenant Larien. If there are no other questions perhaps we should return to the Bridge and proceed with our assignment without delay."

Larien: "Thank you Captain, however it was a team effort."

Thompson: "Maybe the ship was lost else where but was moved there by what ever caused the disappearance. There are some space anomalies that pick you up and throw you out somewhere completely different."

*T'Vasa looked up and nodded before speaking firmly.*

Solan: "I will keep security teams on stand-by and prepare my Hazard Teams, Captain. All I need is your word."

*T'Vasa nodded with an affirmative and stepped out of the meeting room to get ready for work.*

*Timor was uncertain what T'Vasa meant by her Hazard Teams.*

Belar: "Well if there is nothing else, how about we get back to the Bridge. However with regards to the Hazard Teams I have decided that we will have two teams. I will be leading Hazard Team Alpha and Lieutenant Commander Selen will be leading Hazard Team Beta due to her training and experience with Hazard Operations on the Enterprise-E.

I will be contacting the individual officers who are to be assigned to the two teams. Alpha Team will deal with most mission types where as Beta Team will be for Search and Rescue or Relief Missions. Any questions before we adjourn this briefing?"

*Canara shook her head, although she hadn't said much during the briefing her head was working at warp speed to help her fellow crew members unravel this mystery.*

*Wil felt the briefing was short but positive. As the new first officer, he could see that his new ship mates were up to the task in hand. He had not had the chance to meet the crew yet, it was not his way to go saying Hi to them all or go running to the Captain. He wanted to let his work do the talking.*

Belar: "Shall we adjourn this briefing now. Please return to your duty stations, hopefully we will receive more news shortly."

*After finishing the meeting, everyone departed the conference room and heading to the Bridge.*
